History
Mitcham, Morden, Wimbledon and Merton merged to form the London Borough of Merton in 1965. All four towns used to be districts and were a part of Surrey. Even before they merged with London, the districts saw growth in residence during the two World Wars due to overcrowding in Inner London.
Just like many boroughs in London, Merton is divided into into different cultures through the residents who live there. The borough offers suburban living, green spaces through its parks and commons and exceptional connectivity to Central London for commuters.
Though Merton is mainly known for its Tennis Tournament at Wimbledon to people outside of the UK, this project showcases that there is more to see from the borough through areas where people have valuable memories that can relate to the younger audience, and how much we embrace our hometown through the memories we have from a young age up to the present day.
